Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Tojan Sports Car - I am a US collector and restorer of classic American muscle cars and have sold one of my cars to an enthusiast in Sweden 5 years ago via eBay Motors. Through this sale, I learned about the tremendous interest in American cars in Sweden and have at least one car that may be of interest to your club members. I have collected and restored to original condition over 30 classic cars in the past 30+ years and am now retiring from that hobby. I want to find a good buyer and home for my 1987 Tojan Pontiac Trans Am classic.

Below are some pictures of the car to help familiarize perspective buyers with this rare sports car. Manufacturing history - During the late 1980s, Knudsen Manufacturing of St. Louis, MO purchased 137 Pontiac Trans Ams off the Pontiac assembly line and modified them in their St Louis plant to have a more European sports car style and performance. I believe Knudsen Mfg was owned by a relative of then GM Pontiac Division General Manager "Bunkie" Knudsen in order to accomplish this unique sports car modification of so many new Pontiacs.

Knudsen Mfg. made a large number of modifications to create their "Tojan"model. Tojan is an old Greek word referring to horses and I think a take off on the Ferrari horse logo? The major modifications include: All the sheet metal besides the doors and T-Top were replaced with custom fiberglass body panels. The axils were both lengthened 8 inches to give a much wider stance with custom English 3 piece chrome wheels added to the axil ends. The motor is the stock GM 305 ci motor with Tuned Port Fuel Injection (TPI) which was performance enhanced with SS headers and a low restriction great sounding exhaust system = around 250hp and yielding 25mpg on the highway through the standard 4 speed GM TH700 automatic with overdrive transmission. The stock Trans Am interior was enhanced with leather Recaro racing seats. The result is a very stylish sports car that is really fun to drive, has all the power features of a Trans Am, gets great mileage and uses standard off-the-shelf GM or aftermarket auto parts for maintenance and repair.

I have owned the car for 4 years having bought it with 58,000 miles near my Florida home. I went completely through the car as per my standard mechanical restoration to bring it back to original mechanical condition = get in a drive the car for 30,000 miles like new only needing oil and filter changes over that mileage. All the fluids were changed, new tires, new brakes, radiator flushed/serviced, etc. and I just installed a new battery. I have all the records of this work and can provide all the receipts. Cosmetically, I of course polished the paint, detailed the interior and fully cleaned the undercarriage, painting the frame and axils with Krylon semi-flat black anti-rust paint to restore the undercarriage to factory new appearance and prevent any surface rust from forming. Being a southern US car all its life and with the body mainly fiberglass, it does not have any winter salt damage to the body or frame. I have driven the car 2,000 miles since purchasing it to make sure it is running and performing as new and to enjoy this unique sports car. The odometer is currently at just over 60,000 miles per the picture and it is garage kept and ready for a new owner to enjoy.

My asking price is $25,000US I welcome professional inspection of the car by perspective buyers. I will be happy to assist the new buyer with safe shipment from the US to Europe/Sweden.
